- The most important daily task you can perform is making your backup within Sage BusinessWorks. Make sure you are backing up nightly to protect your data in case of an issue such as a power outage.
- Anytime you are working in the program and you lose power or have a system crash, the first thing you should do once you come back online is disconnect any stranded users and restore your most current System and Company backup.
- It may not be obvious that you have an issue with your data but days or weeks down the line you may see an issue that was caused by the outage and the resolution is to restore a backup from prior to the outage. Being proactive by immediately restoring your backup will prevent potential issues down the line.
- Address the cause of the outage. Power outages are unavoidable but if you are in an area that has frequent outages you may want to look at a battery backup or uninterruptible power supply to help keep your computers up during a power outage.
- If you are questioning if your data has been damaged, restore your backups. Right after the outage is the best time to restore to prevent any down time. When in doubt, restore the backup.
