Using the new version of Outlook to email directly from Business Works

Solved

I am a long time user of Business Works running V 2024 SP 7.  I email pay stubs and invoices etc. directly from Business Works through Outlook.  I tried to switch to the newest version of Outlook and found that I can no longer send email directly from BW.  For example, some of our pay stubs go into the Outlook draft folder and are unable to be sent from there.  Others just disappear completely.  I see there is an option to select Office 365 as the email client in BW.  Should I make that selection when using the new Outlook?  If so, is there an configuration that needs to be done in order to make BW and the Outlook app communicate?  I would appreciate hearing advice or tips from anyone who has successfully made the transition to using the new Outlook with Business Works.

  • it used to be you had to use the 32 bit version of office (outlook) for BW compatibility

I looked at my office 365 and can find its the 32 bit ver in EXCEL, to find out look at  file menu , ACCOUNT, About Excel

PS:   Microsoft Office 365 defaults to a 64bit download for the apps package, you must select 32 bit

    Thank you for reaching out.

BusinessWorks utilizes the default email program configured on the local machine. Currently, we support the following configurations:

    • Microsoft Office: A locally installed 32-bit version of Microsoft Office or Microsoft Office 365 (latest version).
    • Supported Services: ISG MAPI and Outlook are the only supported email services at this time. While other options such as Gmail, Office 365, Thunderbird, SMTP, Extended MAPI, and Simple MAPI may appear in the service drop-down menu, they are not currently supported.

    Configuration Notes:

    • If you are using Microsoft Outlook 32-bit, your default service will be ISG MAPI, though Outlook is also available.
    • If you are using Microsoft Outlook 64-bit, your default service will be Outlook. Please note that ISG MAPI is not compatible with 64-bit Outlook. If you encounter errors, we recommend installing the 32-bit version of Outlook.
