On the addon setup screen you select Total as the cost basis and select the radio button for Estimate total.  This addon will be the % margin of the grand total you are looking for.

And would there be any way to apply margin only to specific categories? Lets say i want to apply a margin to materials, labour, sub, and other but i don't want to include a margin on equipment. Would that be something possible?

I do know that in a future release it is planned to include provisions to allow for the allocation of said margin to only certain categories selected.  Right now, allocating this add-on would be over all categories and amounts.  To learn more about updates and interact with other estimating user community members - please visit tugweb.com.  There are community Q/A forums, webinars and learning conferences available.

You would need to create different add-ons for each category you want to mark up differently.

On the totals page, you just select the add-ons that apply to your project,
