Amortization and Net Book Value report

SUGGESTED

We are tracking lease amortizations using Sage.  When we dispose of a lease before it has been fully expensed, the Net Book Value report is still showing the remaining life and does not reflect anywhere on the report as a disposed asset.  These are being input as Property Type Z.  Is there something different that we need to do, or a different report we can run that would show total YTD amortization and disposals?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hello Clippman,

I am unsure what your objective is, and I am kind of confused why you would be looking at the NBV report for disposals. The NBV report being non-date sensitive is usually not considered a good source for current information.

You could setup a group on Property Type Z and then run the Depreciation Expense report which would show all the current year disposed and active assets or run the Disposal report on that same group to find the disposals only.

Since you are talking about leased assets, there are many rules included in those which is not supported in the Sage Fixed assets program, see Leased Assets, US GAAP Topic 842 for more information.

We are looking for a report that gives the ending value of the amortized asset after depreciation.  The depreciation report does not provide that information, you have to manually calculate it.  We are trying to supply a report for auditors that would show the ending deferred costs to tie back to the ledger.

That sounds more like you are looking for a group on Property Type Z and Activity code D to run on the NBV report, but it could be more complicated than that.

You are going to end up using some sort of group to narrow down what you want to see on the report.

You could sort the report by Property type then Activity Code both with subtotals which may help.

We already created that grouping.  I think we were hoping to get an all-inclusive report to also show those disposals.  But we can (and do) supplement with the disposal report anyway, so will have to make that work.  Thank you Delray!
