Reversing depreciation to a prior period

SUGGESTED

How do I back up depreciation to a prior period? I need to reset depreciation to a prior period and then re-depreciate

For example, we are in September business and I need to reset to 1/31/24

How do I do that?

    Hello Stephanie,

There is no reset of depreciation to a prior period, but you can re-run depreciation to a prior period. If you are not concerned with what appears in the Depreciation This run, there is no harm in running depreciation to dates. See How to run a report for a past or future period for more information.

If you are concerned about the Depreciation this run, just remember to first run depreciation to the period prior to the period you are looking for, and then for the period and only then run the reports. See What is depreciation this run for more information.

Hi, I just came upon this post today as I have a similar issue I'm hoping you can help with. The depreciation for November 2024 was reversed in Sage Fixed Assets but the GL entries were not reversed and the system will not allow them to be deleted or reversed. When I try to re-run depreciation the system errors saying that depreciation has already been posted. I'm not sure how to get the depreciation to run for November 2024 again and I'm afraid to cause more of an issue.

Currently the Accum Depr in Sage Fixed Assets does not match the Accum Depr GL accounts because November was reversed in only Sage Fixed Assets. Any advice is appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Hello LBAY,

That sounds a lot more like an issue in your GL program of which I know nothing.
