Assets Not Placed in Service

Suggested

Is there a way I can add assets that don't have a placed in service date yet? For example, I have a handful of assets that were acquired in late 2024, but they are not placed in service yet as they are still being prepped for use, so not placed in service yet. They are sitting in a "registered" status. Can I add these in Sage Fixed Assets - Premier Depreciation and then update the placed in service date once they are actually placed in service?

    Hello Transportation,

It all depends on how you want the assets to appear on the reports.

You can enter an asset either without any book information, or with some future Placed-in Service date or with a current Placed-in Service date and a Depreciation method of NO.

The assets with either no book information or with some future Placed-in Service date will not appear on the Depreciation expense report until the Placed-in Service date and other information is entered or depreciation is ran to the future Placed-in Service date. Using the Depreciation Method of NO, the asset and its value will appear on reports, but it will not accumulate depreciation.

In any of those cases, when you do place the assets into service, you will need to set everything to zero and it will behave normally.
