Disposal and Depreciation

I have some assets to dispose of so I need to run depreciation thru the disposal date to calculate the final totals. If I do that, and then run depreciation for the rest of the year on the active assets, would the depreciation expense report show the depreciation of the disposed assets as well as the active assets for the entire year?

    Hello Rustin,

A disposal is a calculation of depreciation. In other words, the disposal itself is the calculation, not what was done before or after the disposal was entered.

See also How to dispose an asset and read the very first note in the resolution.

As for the DER, assuming you do the disposals then run depreciation to the year end, and you are looking at the YTD, yes, all the year’s activity will be there. If you are looking at the depreciation this run, that’s a different discussion.
