How to search by invoice number; and mistakenly failed to put a new sub-client under the master - how to get it under the master?

Hello MaryRose , which version of Timeslips? Later ones have a lookup for the Invoice number when posting payments. 
 But probably the easiest way to find an invoice by number is to tell Timeslips you want an Invoice Listing report and then filter for just that invoice number. 
 As for sub-clients, Timeslips manages this via the naming of the file, so just edit the nickname of the client you already put in and it will resort under the right Master.
