Hello Cinderella Smith and welcome the Community.
I am not trying to be flip or sarcastic, but you should literally try to figure out what the message is telling you about the refund or transfer.
Without looking at your data, I cannot tell you where the refund or transfer is, but open up the transaction and see where it got applied, if at all. You should start there. Do you have ANY Refund or Transfer transactions on that client?
The message is essentially saying that the payment is linked to another transaction, and if you delete this one, it will orphan that other transaction, so remove that other transaction first.

How should I go about looking up the other transaction? I tried to find them but I don't see any
I would open up the payment and see what invoices it has been applied against if any.

Thank you for your inquiry, Cinderella Smith.
If you are still receiving this error, you would want to go to Transactions to select Accounts Receivables to View By Client, locate the Client, make sure Selection Filters are cleared, and set to None. Once you do that, you may look for the REF transaction and delete it. If it has a yellow envelope on it, you would need to be able to undo that bill to delete it.
