Timeslips 2005 cutting off part of Amount column on some printed bills

We're using Timeslips 2005 Two billing cycles ago, I put some language in an existing footer field on the first page, which seemed to print fine. No changes have been made between that billing cycle and the one we ran this week.

During this week's billing cycle, some of the printed bills had half of the of the Amount column on the right side of the page cut off. Not all of the bills printed that way, and they all show up just fine on the display view. The ones that printed correctly seem to be those that only had a balance due or only expenses entered. The bills that have the column partially cut off seem to be those with new time entries.

Suggestions on what may have happened that can be corrected, or other options? My predecessor had several bill layouts, so I'm considering figuring out which one was the version previous to my footer update (the layouts have generic names), and reverting all clients to that one. A co-worker of mine also asked whether we could pull from an older database, but we can't figure out how to do that.

TIA!

I don't see how editing a footer two cycles ago would lead to the time entry section not printing today.

Something else is afoot. It might be the layout, but might my gut instinct is that it is not.

Are all of the bills being printed from the same computer and printer?

Did you do anything to your computer's display settings recently? Tried to make things larger perhaps?

Are you printing directly to the printer? Or are you "printing" to Display first and then from there, going to the printer?  If you are going to the printer from the Display, try printing directly to the printer without Display in the middle.

This one could be a difficult one to figure out and unfortunately your v2015 is unsupported by Sage. The good news is that there are Certified Consultants like myself who can try to help you with it.

    Thank for your quick reply!

The bills were all printed from the same computer and printer. As an experiment, a co-worker and I both tried from our individual computers (we share the printer).

None of the display settings were changed.

We've tried both printing directly to the printer (which was the first attempt), and printing from the display page, with the same odd results.

, thanks for doing that testing.

Hmm, I suppose it 'could' be the layout. Just really hard to say without taking a look.

What is also super odd is that it looks okay on the display.....

Can you try printing it to a PDF - no actual printer. We sometimes see a difference there.

Thanks, Nancy! We did try printing to .pdf, with the same issue.

Did you go directly to pdf or from screen to PDF

Hi, Caren2 - thanks for chiming in!

We tried both printing from display screen to .pdf and saving as a .pdf option in the print dialog box.

Does your machine have a default Windows printer set? or is it set to "Let Windows manage my default printer."?

What is so weird is that the display shows it correctly, but the prints are wrong.

We call that WYSIWYG is not true. WYSIWYG (whizzywig) stands for What You See Is What You Get. I.e., the display should be what prints.

I agree - this is definitely the exception that proves the rule!

It's set to Windows managing my default printer, but our version of Timeslips has us select the desired printer. It doesn't seem to matter which of our printers (we tried three) we print to.

Turn off windows, managing the printer and assign a default printer. Then don’t print to the screen just go directly to the printe. See if that works.

Great idea! Sadly, it didn't work when I tried to reprint a previous bill.
