Help with Setting up new clients in Timeslips

Suggested

I am use to using sage timeslips 2014. I am using the most updated version now and when I go to enter in a new client I can not see where there is the option to assign a specific responsible attorney,  attorney signature, specific greeting name for client, if client is active (this stuff was on 2014 version) how can I do this on the new one? Is it possible

    Hello  .

It sounds like your old v2014 had some Custom Fields added to it. Those options are not part of a default database, but can be added and tracked.

Did you convert your old v2014 to Anywhere? If so, you might want to go back to whomever did your conversion and see if they can bring in your old custom field values.

If you are starting in a new Timeslips Anywhere database, then you will need to manually add those fields to your instance.

Creating the fields is the sort of thing that you do once, but then you use them over and over as you add clients.

Hi Nancy, Thank you for the information. The only information I was able to get was that they don't think they were able to bring over the custom fields. I know after they did the conversions the invoice layout I was using wasn't working any longer. How can I manually add those fields back to the 2024 Sage Software Premium Starter?

Hmm, that last sentence has me confused.

Are you using Timeslips Anywhere - their cloud only offering? Or Timeslips Premium - an on premise subscription based product? Do you access it via your browser and login (Anywhere) or double click on an icon on your desktop (Premium)?

Your v2014 would have been able to convert to the Premium product directly with everything. The Anywhere product is an export/import at best. So the answer differs.

But yes, you can add custom fields to both. That gives you the CAPACITY to have those fields on each client, but populating those fields with existing data from v2014 would be where the real value/payoff is.

Sorry about the confusion, this whole update has me all confused lol. I double click on an icon on my desktop (Premium)? I just cant seem to find where to add the custom fields from. It says it should be under Set up but I do not see it.  What I looking to get back in there is when i would add a new client there was a tab i would go into where I could assign a responsible attorney and their signature that would show up on the cover lettter and the name to address the client "Dear _______" that is now gone which the worst part is all the old clients who already have that I cant fiqure how to change the name that shows up on that cover page under "Dear _______" I hope this makes any sense?? The person that set that up does not work here anymore so I have no one to ask.

     , thanks that helps.

I have conferred with one of my colleagues and we think we know what is going on.

It appears that you are running Timeslips Premium Starter, as you said in your second post, and not Timeslips Anywhere which is the discussion group that you are posting in. (Not to worry, happens ALL the time.)

can you move this thread to the Premium discussion board?

Now, within Premium, there are three "flavors" if you will. Starter is the smallest/cheapest one, but (and this is key) it does not include the ability to have custom fields. So that would be why you do not see the fields, nor the option under Setup.

However, there is hope yet! Point up

My colleague and I think there is a VERY good chance that if you upgrade your subscription to at least the second flavor called Pro, that those old fields will be revealed as they are likely still in the database, just hidden from view due to it being a Standard version. We can't guarantee that, because we have not actually tried it, but we feel pretty good about it.

If you would like pricing for the upgrade, or to test our theory of the revealed fields, you can contact me directly below.

Hey  , was just checking something else, and realized I had misspoken in my previous response and wanted to correct the information for you.

Timeslips is sold in FOUR flavors, not three. And the level you should need to upgrade to is Standard, not Pro to get Custom Fields.

As Consultants we almost never sell Starter, and don't usually sell much Standard because it does not have Client Funds. So Pro is usually where we end up, and clearly my brain wanted to go there again.

If you do not need Client Funds, then the Standard version should be able to deliver the Custom Fields for you.
