Timeslips Premium

We currently do not use Timeslips anymore.  My boss separated from a larger firm and is using a different, less sophisticated billing program.  Timeslips was opening up just fine for me.  I like to look at past clients, etc.  Obviously I have not used it for billing purposes or anything, but just a reference.  Today when I tried to open up Timeslips it gave me an error.  I thought I was supposed to be able to open it, just not able to make changes, etc.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

, could you please move this post to the Premium thread? Thanks.

, welcome to the Community Hub. You are correct. You should be able to open it in read only mode at a minimum. But "it gave me an error" is not enough of a clue for us to be able to help you.

Please provide: 1) the specific version of Timeslips you are trying to run if possible, 2) a screenshot of the error and any subsequent information that might be available - sometimes there will be a blue link for 'more information, 3) as much detail as possible about your configuration or any other information that you think might be helpful - i.e., how many licenses do you own, is this a stand alone installation where the data is on your hard drive, or is this a network with the data on a server?

Not sure if you can read these.  All information is included in these screenshots.  This is a stand alone version with all information on my C: drive.

If you can tell me how to do a better screenshot, I can try that if this didn't work.  Sorry, I don't use screenshots much.

    Thank you.

Thank you, that helps. But you are correct, I can't read the first one - too small.

Your computer should have a free Microsoft program called Snipping Tool/Snip and Sketch. It lets you choose to take snapshot of just a part of a screen. Could you try that? Here is some instruction from Microsoft on how to use it. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/use-snipping-tool-to-capture-screenshots-00246869-1843-655f-f220-97299b865f6b

Also, in the bottom right of the error message it looks like there is a link to more information. Can you snip that as well?

    Are these better?

    Much better, thanks.

That is unfortunately not a common error. I don't know that I have ever seen that one myself. You sort of WANT to be a common error that we know how to deal with instead of a new one.

Do you get it right when you open the program? Or are you trying to do something else like run a report?

On first blush it seems to be referencing Firebird (your database engine) trying to talk to a Microsoft Office application such as Outlook or Excel.

Right when I open Timeslips.  I have sent a message to the Premium Discussion forum also.

Are you able to sort of 'power through' the message and keep going? It appears that you are able to then pull down the Help, About menu to get your version screenshot.

Can you click on Setup, Features Enabled and UNcheck the Outlook link, then close Timeslips and reopen it?  I think it is trying to talk to Outlook when it opens. Do you have Outlook on this machine? Does Outlook open and close as it should? Have you rebooted your machine?

When was the last time you were successful opening Timeslips without the error?
