Sage has officially shifted into top gear with its new Sage Account (SageID) - one login to rule them all. Whether you’re hopping into SageX3, checking your cloud features, or accessing support, everything Sage now funnels through one secure, easy‑to-manage account. Nice and simple… until the moment you forget your password.
Don’t worry - you're not alone.
We’ve all had that moment where you confidently hit “Login,” trusting your device to remember your credentials, only to be met with the digital equivalent of a judgmental eyebrow raise. Maybe you changed your password last week. Maybe autofill betrayed you. Maybe you used one of your 47 variations of the same password you’ve recycled since 2004.
Whatever the reason, Sage’s 2‑factor authentication (2FA) has your back.
SageID makes your account more secure and gives you options—backup methods, recovery paths, and even a plan for when your phone decides to take a permanent vacation (or a swim or just disappear into the sofa forever).
In this guide, I’ll cover:
- ? What is 2 Factor authentication (2FA)?
How to set up your Sage Account (SageID)
How to link and manage your authentication methods
What to do if you lose your device
How to get connected even if it feels like the world is ending
By the time we’re done, you’ll be a SageID superhero—cape optional.
What is 2 Factor authentication (2FA)?
2- Factor authentication (2FA) formerly known as multi-factor authentication adds an additional layer of security to your online accounts.
How to set up your Sage Account (SageID)
Your Sage Account (SageID) isn’t issued by Sage or your employer—you create it yourself using your own email address. Sage simply provides a secure identity platform that connects your login to all Sage products.
For this blog, let’s create a new account from Sage Community;

Using the login button, you can login with your email/password or alternatively create a new account.

*Clicking “Click here” will provide you instructions on registering a new account and password recovery details.
If you are looking to create a new account, enter your email address and select continue.

You will then be prompted to add your First, Last and password.

Click “Sign up” once done and you will be prompted to enter the 6 digit code that was emailed to you.

Once the code has been entered successfully, you will now be prompted to add extra security to your account, and I will select the “Turn on extra security” option.

The default method is Sage Verify, and when you choose to setup Sage Verify you will be presented with a QR code to scan with the Sage Verify app to complete setup.
**Search “Sage Verify” in the App store if needed.
However, for this Blog I will be selecting “Authenticate a different way” which presents the following options:
- Sage Verify
- Authenticator App
- Phone
Users will be asked to use an authenticator app to receive the authentication code and sign in.
Supported apps are:
- Authy
- Google Authenticator
- Microsoft Authenticator
If you are unable to install an authenticator app you can still choose to receive a text(SMS) or phone call to authenticate.

Once you have selected and setup your additional security preference and used it to authenticate your first login, you will be provided with a recovery code – Save this code, it may save you valuable time if you need to login without access to your authenticator app.

Sage will use your selected security method going forward whenever you sign in.
Sage has also provided you with an option to create a backup method.
Here you can choose either a Phone # or Email.

If you are creating a new account and have made it this far, just choose a display name and join.. if you’re not a robot.

Additionally, you can log in here: https://account.sso.sage.com to make changes to the management of your account; Password, Email, Security methods and add/remove authentication devices.

What to do if you lose your device
If you have lost your device, or its damaged and you are not able to use the authentication method selected. Go to login to your account, select the “Authenticate a different way” when prompted for the 6 digit code, from here you can select to enter the recovery key you saved.. RIGHT!!
Or alternatively if no longer have that key, use the Backup method you created.

If you didn’t set up a backup sign‑in method — and now you’re missing both your recovery key and access to your authenticator app — don’t panic! You still have one solid option.
Reach out to your local support team or open a support case.
We can reset things for you behind the scenes.
Once we’ve re‑generated your access key (sent straight to your email), we’ll help remove your old authenticator setup so you can re‑configure your authentication method from scratch. After that, you’ll be back to logging in smoothly and securely on your own.
