Hi everyone. This question is for a warehouse that receives hundreds of orders each day and uses its trucks to deliver what was available. The preferred picking method is to do bulk picking, where you pick as many entire pallets as possible. Orders are received during the day. At a cut-off time, planning of deliveries start.
Want to see if the following process is possible in X3:
1-We allocate Sales Orders globally as they come in. We do not want to commit to specific lots or picking locations yet.
2-We generate pick tickets based on global allocations from sales order. No detail allocation yet. We want the pick tickets for trip planning purposes.
3-We use a Route Planner function to group those pick tickets into trips using GPS locations.
4-Before starting to pick for a trip, we want to generate the detailed allocations for the globally-allocated pick tickets assigned to the trip. The purpose is that if pick tickets have the same product, we want to maximizing picking as many full pallets as possible by allocating when we know which pick tickets go in the same trip.
5-We physically pick for the trip based on the detailed allocated quantities on the pick tickets in that trip.
Can X3 support this process?
If we do detail allocations at the sales order level, we may end up with trips having detailed allocations all over the warehouse.
