Good Day,
When we submit invoices to the factoring company, we receive an advance payment of 70% of the invoice's rand value. This amount is recorded as an Accounts Receivable (AR) payment. The remaining 30% is paid to us once the debtor settles the invoice with the factoring company, typically 30 days from statement.
From this 30% balance, the factoring company deducts their applicable fees, which are not subject to VAT. As a result, a residual balance remains on each debtor account, representing these fees.
I would like to know how to correctly clear these fee-related balances from the debtor accounts and simultaneously record them in the General Ledger (GL) in Sage Evolution 200.
Specifically:
• Can I create a dedicated AR code and link it to a GL account?
• How do I correctly set up the GL account for these non-vatable fees?
• What is the correct process to ensure both debtor reconciliation and accurate GL reporting?
Can someone perhaps help with a step-by-step guide on how to do this, our account resigned, and I have no idea how to do this.
