The Social Security Commission of Namibia has announced updates to the Employment Compensation Act and the Social Security Act, as outlined in Government Notice No. 8461, dated 01 October 2024.

These changes will take effect on 01 March 2025:

• The maximum wage ceiling will increase from N$ 9,000 to N$ 11,000 per month, while the contribution rate will remain unchanged at 0.9% of the employee's basic wage for both the employee and employer.
• The minimum wage ceiling will increase from N$ 300 to N$ 500 per month.

No adjustments need to be made to your current payroll systems, as these changes will only apply from March 2025 onward.

Any necessary updates to your payroll software, in line with the amendments above, will be included in the March 2025 release (Release 6.4a).
