South Africa: Employment Equity reporting for 2025

On the 15th April 2025 the amended Employment Equity Regulations were announced in Government Gazette No. 52515. These changes will affect the Employment Equity (EE) reports generated by your Sage Payroll Professional system’s Equity module. To ensure compliance, Sage is planning to release an update with the amended reports by 17 September 2025.

What You Need to Know:

  • All designated employers are now required to submit new EE Plans covering the period 1 September 2025 to 31 August 2030. This means you will need to start afresh with both your five-year and one-year plans.
  • Submission Deadlines - While the reporting deadlines remain unchanged, please take note of the following:
    • Manual Submission Period: 1 September – First working day of October (Deadline: First working day of October)
    • Online (Electronic) Submission Period: 1 September – 15 January of the following year (Deadline: 15 January)

What You Need to Do:

  1. Register for Employment Equity Online Submissions at https://ee.labour.gov.za/DMISO/ 
  2. Start Preparing Your New Employment Equity plans covering the period 1 September 2025 to 31 August 2030
  3. Preparing them in advance will ensure they can be easily captured once the software is released.
  4. Verify employee data to ensure all employee records are accurate and up to date.
  5. Update to the latest release in September or October - The updated version will include the revised Equity reports.
  6. Generate and print Employment Equity reports - These reports will provide most of the data required for online submission.

Please note:

  • The next update for Sage Payroll Professional, Release 6.5a, will include the changes to align with the latest regulations. 
  • The update will be available as from 17 September 2025.
