Known issue: Angola tax files effective January 2026 - New software and patch available

We’ve identified an issue affecting Angola tax files in Sage VIP Premier for users who installed the software updated released on 16 January 2026.

What is the issue?

  • The Release 6.5b update includes the tax tables effective January 2026
  • The issue identified on the new tax tables:
    • Brackets 6 to 10 each have a fixed amount that is 1 Kwanza too low.
    • The final bracket is 2 Kwanzas too low.
  • Because the percentage calculation itself is correct, employees are assigned to the correct bracket — but the fixed deduction being too low reduces the final tax by exactly 1 or 2 Kwanzas, depending on their bracket.
  • Employees are taxed correctly per bracket, but the final tax is slightly lower than the expected statutory value.

How do I resolve the issue?

If you have NOT installed Release 6.5b yet:

A corrected version of Release 6.5b installation has been uploaded to the Sage Portal.

Resolution:

  1. Download the latest updated Release 6.5b installation file from the Sage Portal.
  2. Install it — the corrected Angola tax table is already included.
  3. Run payroll as normal.

If you previously installed Release 6.5b:

A patch containing the corrected Angola tax table is available.

Resolution:

  1. Download the patch file from the Sage Portal, available on the Release 6.5b software page.
  2. Copy/install the patch into your Premier system folder, overwriting existing files.
  3. Open your Angola payroll company and run a general recalculation: How to run a General Recalculation
  4. Recalculate before:
    • Processing payments
    • Printing payslips
    • Running reports

This ensures all employees’ taxes recalculate using the corrected fixed amounts.
