Latest software update: Release 6.6a

Our latest version of our payroll software is now available to download on the Sage Portal. This is a mandatory update for all users.

Known issues related to your software application

We're aware of a number of issues impacting your payroll software. Read more below:

South Africa: Patch file for IRP5/IT3a and OID report

We've released a patch file to align the statutory reports with the latest requirements. Even though tax number remain mandatory for employees with PAYE deductions, the patch will allow you to create and import your payroll file into SARS e@syFileTm Employer.

This patch file needs to be installed in your Tax Yar End copy system on Release 6.5a or 6.5b. If you've updated the copy system to Release 6.6.a, it already contains the latest reports.

South Africa: Year End Centre

We've updated our Community Hub Year End Centre with the latest information for the 2025/2026 tax year. This will assist you with preparing, reconciling, and submitting your EMP501 declaration and certificates to the South African Revenue Services (SARS).

  • Hi Francois,

I've done a full system back-up of the March payroll and I've noticed that the size of the back-up is double that of the previous months. The back-ups normally  average 5gigs, but the March back-up is 10 gigs. Are you aware of this and what may be causing the increase in size?

  • in reply to Jerome Naidoo

Hi Jerome, when you do a backup, the system will backup the "Backups" folder. You are therefore backing up backups and so the size of the backups will increase each time. To prevent this, move some of the backups out of the VIP Backups folder to somewhere else outside of the VIP folder. Note that VIP requires a folder called "Backups" so don't delete that whole folder. However, you can move backups out of there to somewhere else.

Thank you, Travis! This is now sorted.
