Engagement date - Moving one employee from one payroll to another within the same company

Good day,

I need to move employees from a wages payroll to a salary payroll, what happens if I use the original engagement date from wages? Will this be seen as dual employment at SARS?

    Hello ,

SARS will not see it like that, as the dates on the certificates will be the IRP5 start date (as on the Statutory tab on the Employee Infomration screen).

You can use the original date of employment (for calculation of service periods and leave), and then enter the salary payroll record IRP5 start date as the day following the end date on the wage payroll record.

    See our example below:

    Wage Payroll

    • Date engaged 2024/01/01
    • IRP5 start date: 2025/03/01
    • Termination date: 2025/09/30 (reason Transfer)

    Salary Payroll

    • Date engaged 2024/01/01
    • IRP5 start date: 2025/10/01
    • Termination date: -

Take note that if you have the Equity Module, the new salary record will need to be updated with Equity history, and the wage record should be deactivated (EQD).
