T4 slip - sole proprietorship - EI exempted

SUGGESTED

In my T4 slip, box 24 , the full amount of my salary still shows up, when it shouldn't... But box 18 is empty. (https://drive.google.com/file/d/1e7Cihgd3wrdTHhNJSQmvnoYucH7FHYAg/view?usp=sharing)

How can I edit the T4 values in Sage Payroll Cloud before submitting my XML to the CRA?
Other ideas how I can fix this issue?

*Context*
As a sole proprietor in my incorporated small business, I pay myself a yearly salary.

Since the CRA tells me I am uninsurable for EI (Employment Insurance), I checked the EI exemption box in Sage Payroll (cloud).

    Hi  ,

Thanks for your question about editing T4 values in Sage Payroll Cloud, specifically regarding EI exemption.

If you have indicated that you are EI exempt by selecting the EI exemption box in Sage Payroll Cloud, but the full amount of your salary still appears in box 24 and box 18 is empty on your T4 slip, it may be an indication that the exemption hasn't been properly applied in the system.

To address this, please follow these steps:

    1. Go to 'Pay Runs', then 'Process Pay Run'.
    2. Select your employee profile.
    3. Click on the 'Pay Run values' tab.
    4. Check the 'Edit taxes and other expense amounts' box to manually adjust the tax and other expenses amounts. A prompt will explain how this affects the calculated amounts.
    5. Scroll down to 'tax and other expenses'.
    6. Enter '0' or the correct amount if different for EI in the 'Edit this amount' field next to the EI expense.
    7. Click 'Save and continue', and then 'Confirm' to apply the changes.

Please make sure to review the summary of your changes to confirm that the correct adjustments have been made before proceeding.

If you need to revert any pay runs or make further adjustments, follow the guidance in our 'Correct a pay run' article available on our support site.

Before finalizing any changes, I recommend running the 'Year To Date Detail' report and comparing it against the Payroll Deductions Online Calculator (PDOC) to ensure accuracy. This can help confirm that the EI exemption is properly reflected.

For any further assistance or clarification, don't hesitate to reach out to our support team.

    Warm Regards,
    Erzsi

Hi Erzsi, that didn't work unfortunately Sage Payroll overrides the ''0'' values in the editable fields.

I dug a bit deeper and found out the following information on the CRA's website. (Employers' Guide – Filing the T4 Slip and Summary)
box 24 must be filled under any circumstances since 2012. (Check, the right amount is displayed)
If you are EI exempted, box 18 must display ''0'' as the value. (Uncheck, the box is empty)
If you are EI exempted, box 28 should be empty or have an ''X'' mark into the EI box 28. (Check, the box is empty)

    What do you think ?
