A francophone on the Sage team in Toronto!

2 minute read time.

Hi there!

I will be one of the new bloggers for Sage 50 Accounting Canada (formerly Sage Simply Accounting). My name is Patrick Samake. I started working with Sage almost 5 years ago now. Wow it’s been a while! Time flies eh…

I remember when I first arrived in Toronto like it was yesterday! I came from Montreal, full of dreams, but my English well… let’s put it this way: needed some improvements J that was my own appreciation of my speaking anyway… As per a friend of mine, when you speak a second language, you have the impression that you do not have a “good” accent, but the person you are talking to might find it cute or at least OK!

After a moment living in Toronto, I was not paying attention to my accent (African-French) anymore when I was speaking to someone that has English as first language. Slowly I began to blend in my Ontarian life through Sage and making friends (French and English speaking) outside work. Yeap there is a dynamic francophone community in Toronto! That are surprising at first, but this allowed me to get settle in Toronto after living in Montreal…

A lot has changed since I first started working with Sage. There were changes in the program (Sage 50 Canada) and in the company itself. The economic crisis of 2008 had a huge influence not only on Sage but small, medium sized and larger businesses in Canada and internationally.

The general view of Sage 50 Canada program changed, it has a more user friendly look based on recommendations from clients. Payroll module has been enhanced for example to comply with the government for example on vacation hours or differentiation between loan and advances…

I did bilingual customer support on the program throughout those changes. Some were welcome from the customer point of view but others are less appreciated. The bottom line is that we are continually listening and we try to enhance the program so that it fits our customers’ needs.

Keeping in mind product and service enhancements, in this blog, I will talk about Sage 50 Canada, services offered, and changes to Sage 50 Canada ecosystem.

The new online community website: Sage City allows blogging (this option was also available in the old community), so we will make use of it and have fun! You will see when you browse through the site that you have not only this blog but also forums and blogs from other applications offered by Sage. I hope that you will find our new online community website good, cool, user friendly! If yes or no please give us some feedback below!

I personally find it user friendly compared to the old one (If you have had a chance to use it)

Don't hesitate to write comments and give us your feedback, it's greatly appreciated.

On that note talk to you next time.

Thank you!
