Invoice for only part of a sales order

Question

Is it possible to invoice for only part of the total of a sale order? 
 My business sells and installs kitchen cabinets. I would like to issue a quote to a customer with the following items: 
 Cabinets $xxx 
 Countertop $xxx 
 Sink $xxx 
 Install $xxx 
 If the customer approves the quote I would then convert it to a sales order. 
 My business takes a 50% deposit upon order and the balance upon delivery. Can I create one invoice immediately after converting to an order and then another for the balance once the order is ready to be fulfilled?

 Thanks for reaching out. It is indeed possible to invoice for only part of a sales order in Sage 50 Canada. After converting a quote to a sales order, you can invoice the customer for a deposit or a partial amount as you described. To do this, you'll want to ensure that the Estimates / Quotes and Orders features are enabled in your settings. 
 Once you've converted a quote into a sales order, you can use the 'Convert to Invoice' feature for the amount you need. If you're taking a 50% deposit upfront, you would enter the 50% amount in the Quantity column when converting the sales order to the invoice. 
 Please note that any remaining items not invoiced will be kept in the order as a backorder, and you can invoice these items once the order is ready to be fulfilled. This process can help you manage partial payments and fulfillments effectively. 
 Here's a step-by-step guide to enable the Estimates / Quotes feature and to convert a quote into a sales order and invoice: 
 
 Go to Setup , Settings , Company , Features to enable Estimates / Quotes and Orders . 
 To create a new sales estimate, go to the Home Window , click Customers & Sales (or Receivables ), right-click the Estimates icon, and select Create Estimate . 
 Enter the details of the quote and click Record . 
 To convert a quote to an invoice or order, find the quote, select it, and click the Convert button. Then choose Convert to Invoice . 
 Enter the partial quantity you are selling to reflect the deposit or the partial amount.
