Setting up invoice problem - multiple units need to be calculated

I'm setting up the company for the first time in Sage 50 Pro. I need to set up the invoice so it can multiply a number of units by a number of miles and by base price per mile to get the milage cost.

A standard invoice I will have to run would be:

1st line - Bale pick up =  $2.50 x number of bales

2nd line - Bale hauling milage = $1.00 x number of bales x number of miles

I would like the invoice to have a standard rate per mile and be able to input the number of bales and the number of miles. In the past we have manually calculated out the milage and just put a total on the invoice but I would like a more detailed invoice.

Thanks

Your first line could be Qty column as the nbr of bales and the price column be the 2.50 which will then calculate the amount out correctly.

The second line would be Qty of the number of bales ( 25 bales x $1 is still 25) and the price be the number of miles OR  vice verse - make the Qty the number of miles and the price is number of bales.

I appreciate the answer and I guess $1.00 for milage was a bad example.  The cost for milage might be $1.85 or any other number.  Plus it will change every year.

For example in 2014 it might be $1.85 x # bales x # miles.  # of bales and miles will be variables on each invoice.  In 2015 is might go up to say $1.98 x # bales x # miles.

Last year we manually calculated the milage but I'd like to cut out the manual calculation part.

    Thanks for your help

    Bale_Moving,

I am afraid Sage 50 may not be able to do the calculation that you would like for the cost of mileage.

The screen shot below is an alternative that I think of

The first line still shows the cost of the bales, which is # of bales (25) X the bales price (2.5).

The second line shows the cost of mileage, but you need to manually calculate the # of bales (25) X the # of mileages (10) first and key that in the Quantity column.  Then, you key in the price of the mileage in the Base Price Column and get the cost of mileage.   You may want to enter some description in the Item Description for clarification.

    Hope this helps.
