got a supplier cheque, to return a rental deposit, and I want to add it to the deposit slip
do I create a customer equivalent to the supplier, create an invoice, and pay by cheque - is this the only way ?
It is rather limited isn't it, here's another situation - you usually pay CRA for tax remittances, what do you do if you rec'd a refund?
Looks like you need to use a clearing acct to be able to show the refund in A/P and the deposit in A/R in order to show it on Deposit Slip.
Just a side note - did anyone see that awesome machine one can lease from CIBC for depositing chqs? It is like a little scanner and you just run the cheques thru the machine and it automatically deposits into your bank account! Great idea for those that receive a lot of chqs and eliminates the deposit slips.
I can 'pay an expense' to record the returned deposit in AP using a clearing bank,
but how do I 'create a receipt' paid by cheque (so it's available to deposit) - I still need to create a sales invoice - because I can deposit a cheque without an invoice
Hi Smithco
at CIBC, you can also use tour smartphone www.cibc.com/.../mobile-deposit.html
and also at TD www.tdcanadatrust.com/.../mobile-cheque-deposit.jsp
and Tangerine : www.tangerine.ca/.../index.html
But I never tried any of these!
Hi Roger
Unfortunately, I don't see any direct way to do.
A few month ago, I wanted to pay an account to a provider with EFT. The amount never went in EFT, since it is only possible to pay account by chèque, credit card or other ways that is not EFT.

Hi DanC - I do use my smartphone to deposit my chqs - it s neat and saves a lot of time going to bank to deposit. I was leery at first but it is a habit now and I do always check bank account to ensure it has gone in plus I always print the confirmation on my phone as backup.
