Benefit Deduction Question -

Is there a way with Sage 50 to enter an hourly deduction for employee benefits that self calculates based off posted hours? (Where we enter the hours worked and it calculates a deduction total based off a per hour benefit cost).

Example: Benefits cost employees .54 cents per hour. Employee works 80 hours in a pay period. We enter 80 hours and Sage 50 calculates a line deduction of .54 X 80 = $43.20 without having to manually enter $43.20

I believe you can only set deductions up to automatically calculate based on percentage of Gross or use a dollar amount, not based on hours. Sorry. There is a calculator on the toolbar and you can use Ctrl-C and Ctrl-V to copy and paste the answer if you like.

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately the option for percentage of gross won't alleviate the need to manually enter deduction amounts for each employee because the benefit deduction is per hour (based off number of hours worked). I do appreciate the feedback though.

I thought that was what I said. However, this issue has come up a number of times over the years. Maybe if it is not already under the Give us your feedback website, you should enter it so the designers can see it and people can vote for it. If it is already on the list, you should vote for it so you can get the designers to look at it as a feature enhancement. The website option is under Help, Contact Sage.
