Why can't I email from the Payment Journal?

I would like to know why can't I email from the Payment Journal?  For example, I got an email today from one of my suppliers stating that I did not make a certain payment.  It would be so much easier to be able to OPEN the payment Journal and EMAIL the proof of payment !!  The option IS there, the email window opens and it does look like it will email it but it PRINTS it instead. WHY?  Having to scan the proof of payment and then attach it to an email is a few steps that I don't always have time for.

Can someone explain to me the WHY?  If it is really NOT available then why is there an EMAIL option on that same screen that actually OPENS as this tells me that it is doable, there has to be a workaround.  Any ideas?
