Getting a black square printing in my new sage 50 2017 Invoices.

SUGGESTED

Have tried  checking settings in reports & forms, Invoice, and un-checked the Company Logo setting/tick box. But it still prints a black square in the logo space. What to do next? Tx, Neil.

    Neil:

Is the black square exactly where the Paid stamp shows in the print preview, if so then it is the area to focus on, could be a print driver issue related to the PAID stamp itself, I am not sure if there is an option to turn on or off the paid stamp on the print out, I will look when I have time, or you can investigate this yourself.

    Arhhh Bruce, you little beauty!

Turn off the "paid"on invoices, whether or not logo is checked or unchecked (many trial printings later) leaves that spare bare. Thank you very much, this irritant under my skin is relieved.

    Neil:

    Glad you sorted that out!

It would be interesting to determine if a different printer allows the "PAID" stamp to show properly. I am wondering if it is related to some problem with your copy of the SAGE 50 program or the print driver?

Bruce do you want me to get back to you with the outcome?

So I am having the same issue. I just bought a new computer and the main differences is the OS and Office. The new computer has upgraded from Win7-32bit(Office 2007) to Win7-64bit(Office 2016). There is an HP 1020 attached that now prints a black box where the PAID logo should be. It has to be a driver issue as the new computer will print to the network printer fine. I assume it is a driver issue that HP won't fix due to the age of the printer (2012 driver).

Sounds like what's happening is that the 'Paid Stamp' (presumably a transparent graphic? used as a watermark) is being printed as a very non-transparent black rectangle.

There may be settings and options for that printer (grayscale, 'print as black & white', print as bitmap, etc) that send different types data (raw, partially or fully processed) to the printer and can affect the output.

(Or just turn the 'paid stamp' off.)

My experience has been the opposite, usually the older equipment and drivers have fewer 'fancy features' and their basic function has been more thoroughly tested, is better understood, and the thing is more reliable.

Try turning off the Paid Stamp in the Report & Forms Options dialog box as seen below

Then try and see if the black box is still there. Then go back in and turn the feature back on and see if you still have the same issue.

I tried looking for any setting in the print driver (and couldn't find anything that would fix it). Also, I have disabled and enabled the check box for the PAID logo and that didn't fix it. On a side note, the logo for our company prints fine. It must have to do witht the 64bit version of the print driver...Sage 50 just doesn't like it. I told the employee to print to the network printer from now on. I was hoping to kill that printer off in the near future anyways so this is just one more dagger...its too bad that cheques print fine to the HP 1020...

If it works for cheques, you could make it a cheque-only printer.  Less likelihood of anyone printing cheques on white paper or reports on cheques.
