Simply 2011 unaccessable

We upgraded from Simply 2011 to Sage 50 in 2016.  We just started fresh in 2016 with Sage, we didn't do a conversion or data dump into Sage.  Now when I go to view the historical info from Simply 2011, it won't open as the latest update has affected the old files.

Any way to get that info back?  I've looked online for Simply 2011 but I'm striking out.  I just started with this company in October 2016 so I don't have the discs or information from the past.

Any suggestions as to how I can access this?

Thanks!

What exactly does the program tell you when you try to open the 2011 files in 2016?

    Hi Richard,

    The message says:

This file was created with Sage 50 (Release 2013.4 or earlier).  You can open this file if an earlier version of Sage 50 (Release 2014.0 to 2015.3) is also installed.

What I don't understand is why a Simply Pro 2011 file would be affected by Sage 50.  They weren't even saved in the same folders.

    Thanks,

    Rachel

So the message tells you what you need to do.  Get an earlier version of 2014 or 2015 installed.

Download the Trial version of 2015 and install it on your computer (don't open it), then open Sage 50 2016 and select the Simply 2011 file (assuming all releases are equal eg. 2011 Pro and 2016 Pro - you won't be able to open 2011 Premium in 2016 Pro).

The files are not "affected" by Sage 50.  They just can't be converted to a version 5 years later with the database version change.  This is by Sage's design and a Microsoft requirement.  This has been discussed many times on this forum.  If you really want the 20 minute explanation, I can do that in September if you remind me, but for now, you just need to know that there is a Knowledgebase article about this.  Search for 68836 .

Thanks.  Sorry for not finding the string on my own, I obviously didn't search long enough before asking for help.
