I was not asking for a comparative statement, as the client only has one complete year.

The percentage that the report shows is only for the comparative difference between two periods.  You can do a comparative statement on two parts of the same year - i.e. comparing January to July, or between the Budgeted and Actual amounts.

The period comparative ratio is the only percentage available in that report.  It does not show you the percentage of gross margin for the period, you would have to export to Excel and calculate that.

If you're looking for Financial Ratios, they're available for the current year only, in the Financial Ratios Report under Reports | Microsoft Office Documents.

If you're looking for a 'vertical analysis' type report where income statement numbers are shown as a percentage of sales, there isn't one pre-made but you can export to Excel.

The Summary report under Inventory will show the current selling margin based on the on-hand cost and the 'regular' price.

The Customer Sales report shows selling margin by item and customer in summary or detail, but may not be available in the Pro Edition

I agree, only comparative give percentage on report.

The normal one does not. Even though it might have percentage column available , but it is for the percentage report.
