need to clear historical data

Hi Folks,

I am a newbie and am still setting up the data in historical mode.

At this point I have all the info entered for my employees but discovered that my session date is wrong.

If I was to clear all the historical data, will I be able to go in and change my session date. It is set for 2019,not 2018.

    Hi, If you started the setup with the incorrect date, I don't believe that you will be able to change it now by clearing data.  Some of the data is (i.e. year end balances) is permanently stored, even if the values stored are all zeros.

    If you had started with the correct year end and later changed it, it can be restored from a backup from before the change.

    If all else fails, all the static (non-transactional) data in 'lists' or 'Ledgers' (accounts, employees, inventory, customers, etc.) can be exported, then re-imported into a new set of books.

    Transactions can be imported and exported, but are not exported in a format that allows importing.

    Well,when I do a backup I have it overwrite the last backup. I guess I won't be doing that anymore.

    Could you give me directions on how to import export, I think that is my last option.

    Unless I can just start up a new company with the proper date.

    You can always do that.  As far as I know, there are no restrictions on starting over!

    The option to export from the company file you have been working on, is under the File menu.  The next step is to start up another new company with the proper date, and import the lists.  Be aware that each list should be named differently or the lists will be overwritten by each export.  

    The functionality may not be in all Editions of Sage 50 Canadian.

    Ok,so I have started a new company,imported my list of employees but I didn't get the personalized info for each employee. Such as : the historical amounts that were already entered. Is there a way of doing this?

    If have to enter all the historical data again I'm happy tho!!

    No, there is no way to import historical balances in Sage 50.  The amounts have to be manually entered.
