Do I need a special plan to print t-4 slips for my two employees?

This is my first year-end payroll and I just figured printing out T-4 slips would be easy (and also included in Sage Pro 50 CDN). But, instead, I get this message:

"If you want to do T-4 slips you need to upgrade your service plan. . . "

So, do I really need to upgrade my service plan to do this? Is there not a manual way to do this or is getting the Payroll plan a necessity? Thanks

Hi Rick:

Having the service plan is important if you have several employees and don't mind paying the additional service plan fees and want T4's or ROE's completed. If you have a very simple payroll another option is completing the T4's using the CRA website which is all "manual". I don't believe the cost to add the service plan is overwhelming if you have 10 employees or less. With more than 10 employees the cost is more and continues to grow with the number of employees you have. There are other payroll service providers which you can deal with outside of Sage.
