Migrate from Sage Business Vision 2014 to Sage 50

SOLVED

Hi, I am an IT guy that is trying to help a friend out.  He currently has BV 2014 limited edition and he is trying to migrate to Sage 50.  I have the migration tool and have done the odbc connection but every time i attempt to migrate i get "the selected database cannot be read"  I am at a bit of a loss because I have tried different paths to the DB which is in the Data folder in the BV folder.  ANY help anyone can give would be greatly appreciated.  I know it is a BTreive Database but really would like to migrate this for him as he is super stressed out about it.

If the ODBC connection you are having problems with is for BV, I am not sure how many people on this forum will be able to help.  If it is the ODBC connection for Sage 50 Canada that is not read properly, I am surprised because Sage 50 creates it for you when you create or open a new file.

The only part of your message I can help with is that you indicated

I know it is a BTreive Database

From your message I don't know what is a BTrieve database.  I don't know BV as I haven't touched it since the 90's.  However, Sage 50 Canada is a MySQL database, so this could be your problem.

I don't know what the migration utility does but if it does not create the Sage 50 Canada database, you have to create it yourself and then you can use the Sage 50: xxx.sai ODBC driver or the Sage 50: Last opened. driver.  The xxx is for the filename of the file you created in Sage 50 Canada.
