Sharing Remotely denies Multi-User Access

Since I started sharing the company file with our accountant remotely, the two of us in the Office cannot work in Sage even if multi-user is selected.  Only one of us can work in it at a time, which is unproductive.  Also, there is no option to switch from Multi-User mode to Single-User mode to do a back up unless I log out and go back under single user.  Has anyone ran into this situation?  How does this get fixed?  Everything works fine if I stop sharing the file, which is useful when we are not preparing for year-end.

Below is a screen shot of me being in Single User mode - no option to switch over to Multi-User!  I know there is an update occurring because every time I log out I get asked if I want to install the update.  I say Yes but nothing happens.
