How to Transfer from Sage Simply Accounting Desktop Software to Sage Cloud

SOLVED

Hi everyone... I'm hew here.

I have recently become treasurer for my condo corporation. The previous treasurer has been using Sage Simply Accounting for desktop since 2011. I would like to use the cloud-based version going forward. How do we go about transferring all of our previous records from the desktop version (from his computer) to the cloud version? Any advice is much appreciated.

Thank you... Sarah

Hi Sarah - I would like to suggest you try the trial version first before switching everything over. It is very different than the desktop version. I have tried the SBCA for a couple of clients and had to switch back to the desktop version as they did not like it. You can convert from Sage 50 to SBCA but not the other way around so if you post a lot into SBCA then you will have to repost back into desktop version.

Also you are currently unable to do a budget in the SBCA. It may work very well for you but you should try it out first. Just enter the Trial Balance numbers into the trial version and start posting into it then produce the reports you will need for the strata corporation.

Oh thank you so much for the info! I've never used the desktop version before. The reason why I am inquiring about the cloud version is because our previous treasurer has the desktop software on a CD rom that he wants to pass onto me, but my laptop does not take CDs. I figured the best way to transfer everything over would be the cloud version. Doing the budget would be one of my tasks as treasurer, so having that tool would be an asset.

I don't suppose that you know the best way of how to transfer the desktop software (with all of his records) to me without the CD?

Hi Sarah, thank you for your message. Here is a blog on how to re-install and on Sage 50 CA data transfer.

We currently have 2022 and 2021 downloads of our software available only; however, you can copy the installation files from your 2011 version. The blog details how to copy the C: \ Sage \ Sage 50 Accounting 20XX Installer folder to a USB stick.

You might run into compatibility issues. Regarding firewalls and program blocks, please  try  Steps 1 to 4 about: How to get Windows to trust Sage 50 and other programs?

    Hope this helps you!
