"Money in...."money out"....

What are we....stupid?

This is dumbing down of the worst type. As accountants and professionals I suspect we know what a bank debits and credits are; clearly it is time for Sage to insert and honour the selection for "use accounting terms".

Personally I find this offensive in all kinds of ways.

    Hi

In case needed, here's an article on how to change between accounting and non-accounting terminology in Sage 50 CA's setup > user preferences.

Depending on if you use accounting or non-accounting terms, these terms will be used in Sage 50:

    MODULES

    ACCOUNTING TERMS

    NON-ACCOUNTING TERMS

    Receivables

    Customers & Sales

    Payables

    Vendors & Purchases

    REPORTS

    General Ledger

    Transactions by Account

    Receivables

    Customers & Sales

    Payables

    Vendors & Purchases

    Journal Entries

    Transaction Details

    SETTINGS

    Receivables

    Customers & Sales

    Payables

    Vendors & Purchases

    USER RIGHTS

    Ledgers

    Records

    Journals

    Transactions

    Receivables

    Customers & Sales

    Payables

    Vendors & Purchases

    Um.

I'm sorry, Erzsi, but I can barely respond to this without getting angry. As an accounting professional for some 40+ years, and as a user of Bedford, Simply Accounting, ACCPAC Simply Accounting, Sage Simply Accounting and now Sage Accounting do you really think I dont know this?

That option has been available since DAY 1 in 1985.

This was NOT the subject of my post. The issue is using terminology "money in" and "money out" DESPITE THE FACT THAT "USE ACCOUNTING TERMS IS SET"....and the lack of a professional interface for those of us who actually understand the difference between a bank debit and an accounting debit.

It would be fairly easy for any motivated developer at Sage to provide pros with a version that simply hides all the end-user nonsense, removes all the dumbed-down messaging, uses accounting terms EVERYWHERE and provides a cleaner slimmer "Accountant Version" that actually serves professionals properly

One can only hope, I guess, that the uptake of the web-only version is terrible, so it drives some vague degree of actual innovation in the destop version (which is what most pros prefer and use). And please don't tell me to upvote it on some list that is constantly ignored by management because they're still trying to cram the relatively useless web version down our collective throats.

    Ugh.

    Hi ,

Where in the latest version do you see this terminology "Money in and money out"?
