Losing a File

I have a lost a client file in my Sage 50 Accountant version.  I had used it on Feb 24, and now it is not in my drop down list of clients.  Any idea what could have happened or where to look for their files?

Try searching your hard drive or server for *.sai. Another possibility is you may have inadvertently saved to Microsoft's one drive. Have done this myself.

Thanks for the info.  I tried one drive. Nothing.  It is strange that I have only lost one "sai" file, and all my other clients are still there.  I am afraid to restore my backup, as then I won't know where to begin to confirm what I have posted since that date.

Out of curiosity, did you perform a backup and then walk away, leaving your computer for several hours?  This has happened three times to me over the last year (and not in the previous 20+ years using Sage 50 including my current Accountant edition for 10+ yrs.).  The first time I had no clue what had happened.  The second time, I recalled that perhaps that same situation had happened previously.  But the third time it happened, it definitely wasn't a coincidence.  You start the backup and then get busy with another task, forgetting to check on Sage and leave the office for the day.  Each time, I had to restore from a backup, but had no issues after that.  Always back up your data!  Good luck.

I have an automatic backup to my Seagate every day.  I just don't understand how the client "SAI & SAJ" files have disappeared from my client menu.  I don't do their books on a regular basis, and the last time I worked on the file was Feb 24.  When I went in on Mar 3, the files were no longer there yet all my other clients' files were.  Very strange.
