Here's the basic format, assuming you aren't using projects:
MM-DD-YYYY,Source,Comment
Acct,1.00
Acct,2.00
Acct,3.00
Acct,-6.00
MM-DD-YYYY,Source,Comment
Acct,3.00
Acct,5.00
Acct,-1.00
Acct,-7.00
A few notes:
1. Entries must balance.
2. Entries must have pennies.
3. Larger numbers, such as $1,000.00, must be entered WITHOUT COMMAS.
4. You shouldn't have any extra lines either at the top or bottom of your file.
5. You may, or may not, need quotation marks around "Source" and "Comment". Try it first without " marks and see.
Thanks for your answer C White
Currently we're using projects input. Could you suggest for those?
Thanks in advance
Unfortunately, I haven't played with importing journal entries with projects very much, so you may need to play with things a bit.
Here's what I know:
1. For each line that should be allocated to projects, add ,"",# to the end. I think that the # is how many projects you're going to allocate that line to.
2. Then insert that number of lines with "project name",%.%% immediately below the line you're allocating.
For example, for a $105 cheque with $5.00 GST and the remainder split 75/25 between projects A and B, I think the entry is:
09-27-22,"Chq 1234","Supplier Inc."
1050,-105.00
5500,100,"",2
"Project A",75.00
"Project B",25.00
2200,5.00
I suggest you make a 'playing with' copy of your data and try a few test files.
