Transfer Owner

Hello,

How can I transfer file ownership to someone else? Apparently when I login to share company and it shows "owner" is under my personal email and I would like to transfer it to the owner of the company. Thanks!

    Thanks for reaching out. Did you ever find an answer for this issue? Whoever is the original user to upload the company data file becomes the username in Sage 50 Canada associated as the owner. So you'll want to stop sharing and have the new "owner" reshare the company data file. The data owner is the only user that can stop sharing a Remote Data Access company

    Hi Erzsi,

    So if I go to Remote Data Access and Stop Sharing. Then the "new owner" login and Share Company then the "new owner" is the owner. Am I right?

    Here's some additional information that could be valuable for transferring file ownership in Sage 50 Canada. Please read all of the below before proceeding.

    For Sage 50 2021.2 and higher, here's a more detailed process:

    1. To re-assign the sysadmin Sage ID, you should use the Re-connect this company to Sage ID feature found under Help > About Sage 50 > Support Info.
    2. Before you proceed, ensure you have a copy of the original file that was shared on RDA (Remote Data Access), as the re-connect option is only available in this copy/restored backup.
    3. The file does not need to be currently shared on RDA to complete this process.
    4. When re-connecting, it will prompt you to connect the company to a Sage ID with the onboarding interface, where you can then input the new sysadmin email address.
    5. After re-connecting, you'll need to manually share the company file again if you wish to do so. This can be done via File > Remote Data Access > Share Company.

    Please be aware that if the shared file was set up for Invoice Payments or Bank Feeds, those settings will remain linked to the previous sysadmin's Sage ID. For Invoice Payments, a security code will be sent to the original owner's email. If you require changes to the Invoice Payments administrator's email, you'll need to contact Sage 50 support to have them make the changes with our IT team.

    Additionally, if you're using Sage 50 2023, be advised not to use the re-connect feature as it's been identified to have issues. For Sage 50 2024, the feature is available and can be used as described.
