Adding Historical Transactions beyond prior period

Hey all,

I'm sure this has been asked before. Wondering if there may be an updated solution.

I am setting up the books for a new company that has been working on an Excel sheet for the past 4 years. They want Sage. They want historical records from 2019 added. I can't back-date journal entries to get this done --an error window pops up when I try. I can't find any online reference that offers a solution. Does anyone know if or how I can make this happen? I was thinking of trying to set up an import file with historic transactions, but I can't find a template to follow create the file. Would this be a possible workaround, or would such a file get rejected?

More of a QB guy. Really surprised this isn't drop-dead easy.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Sage only allows entries in 2 active fiscal years.  So if you're setting up a brand new database and want to include data back to 2019, you should say, right up front, that your first fiscal year is 2019.  Enter stuff for 2019 - there are formats for importing general journal entries from text files.  Then advance the user date to 2020, enter 2020 data, etc.
