ODBC Connection Using MS Access

SUGGESTED

I've created an ODBC connection to my data and linked a few of the tables in an Access database.  The data opens fine but every time I try to create and run a query my MS Access will crash, shut down, and try to reopen.  Hoping someone can help me!

    Hi  ,

Thanks for reaching out. It's important to ensure you're using a 32-bit version of Microsoft Access, as per the guidance in the article "How to connect to MySQL database in Microsoft Access". This version is necessary for the ODBC connection to work properly.

If you're already using the 32-bit version, the problem might be related to the way Access interacts with the linked tables. Sometimes, issues with queries can arise due to the complexity of the data or the way the tables are structured.

Here are a few steps you could try:

    1. Check Compatibility and Drivers: Ensure your ODBC drivers are up-to-date and compatible with your version of Access and the database you're connecting to.
    2. Test with Simple Queries: Try running simple queries first to see if they work without crashing. This could help determine if the issue is with specific queries or the overall setup.
    3. Review Table Links: Double-check the table links to make sure they're set up correctly. Incorrect links or permissions might cause issues.
    4. Consult with Experts: As mentioned in the article, Sage Customer Support does not assist with third-party product issues. It might be helpful to contact your network administrator or a database expert for more specialized assistance.

If the problem persists, you could also consider reaching out to Microsoft Support or forums for more insights specific to MS Access.

I hope these suggestions help you resolve the issue. If you have any more questions or need further assistance, feel free to reach out.

    Warm Regards,
    Erzsi

It use to work in previous additions of Sage but since 2024 this no longer works. I have not figured it out either. But has something to do with the new ANSI driver. I now use MySql workbench.
