How do I get around this? I need to file T4's electronically and can't email invoices, direct deposit, etc.
Hi TNO,
Would you mind to share more information with us when you file your T4 electronically. Did you receive any message?
Thanks.
Also what version of Sage are you using?
You have to be in Single User Mode, and connected to the internet.
Sage 50 Premium 2013 is the version I am using. The message when trying to file T4 is Simply needed access to the internet. However when I was trying to troubleshoot I managed to email an invoice to myself (not quite sure how it happened).
Hi Tno,
Please follow the Knowledge Base link below and make sure all the Sage 50 processes and ports are excluded from your firewall.
Which processes and ports do I need to allow through my firewall to ensure that Sage 50-Canadian Edition will operate correctly?
Products - KB10080
Hope this helps

Sage 50 just opens the CRA website, then from there you would be uploading the T4 XML file in a browser.
There is a link to the Efile site on this page:
Sage 50 internet access is required for this command while trying to access Employee deposit - could this be due to the need to purchase the direct deposit program first?
We have gone through the kb article, added all the exceptions through Norton 360 firewall.
Will try to file T4's on Monday.
Hi TNO,
Are you able to create the T4 xml file? As per Randy's suggestion, Sage 50 creates the xml file for you to save in your computer. The link in the window at the end of the T4 file online process is to get you to the Internet File Transfer (XML) CRA website to upload the .xml fie.
If you are able to create your T4 xml file, you can simply follow Randy's link or the link below, log onto your CRA account and upload the file.

There is no need to purchase the direct deposit program.
Hope this helps.
