form designer

SUGGESTED

we used to use Crystal Report where we were able to print the terms & conditions page after the final page of the Purchase Order, the terms and condition page has the Purchase Order Number and some other fields from the Purchase Order. With Form Designer, is there any way to add one page after the Final Page?

Thank you,

    Hi mElias,

For Sage 50 form template, I am afraid not.

If you still want to use your customized crystal report template, you may want to have a look at the following KB article below:

KB32636 - What are my options if I need additional form functionality not available in the program?

    Hope this helps.

    Hello Keith,

Thank you for your input. Creating a CSV file and open it in third party software is not a viable solution for our company. Our Accountants are used to email the Purchase Order, to our vendors, from Sage50.

Unfortunately, I will be recommending, to upper management, to move to another accounting package.

    Regards,

    M. Elias

If you don't need the July payroll tax update, you could reinstall the previous version, and restore your 2014.2 data.

That would give your Crystal Reports a 6 month reprieve, during which you could see what other options are developed by the third party vendors that are moving to fill this gap.

A word of warning, we tried the recommended conversion vendor recommended by a competitive Canadian small business accounting software vendor.  If you have the U.S. Sage 50, it will convert nearly everything, but...

If you have the Canadian Sage 50, it doesn't convert invoice details, open invoice amounts, sales and purchase orders, estimates, projects, employee payroll data, year-to-date payroll data, bank reconciliations.  For the inventory items that were correctly converted, the balances were correct, but descriptions were truncated, and part numbers tacked onto the ends of the descriptions (so they were pretty well knackered)

If you've ever merged any accounts, or changed the inventory item linking, or changed inventory items to Services, you will not like how that goes.   the totals didn't match the G/L, and the multiple warehouse data was crushed into one location.  Oh, and the selling prices were mangled for all 16,700 items.

We were warned that having used Foreign Currency would be a problem, so it wouldn't be fair to mention those issues.

Your milage may vary, of course.  You want to be fully aware of which of your options will suck the least, when you make your recommendation.

    Hello Randy,

The payroll is needed and the conversion to 2014.3 has been done. now we are struggling to get our day-to-day business back on track.

    Regards,

    M. Elias

I was asking about the payroll update, since there is only a rate change in one province.  The calculations in the 2014.2 release will be continue to be correct in all other provinces.

And possibly, you were still able to go back to your backup from before the conversion, and add the transactions that had been entered into the newer release.

I should also add a disclaimer here, I don't work for Sage or any affiliated company, and probably never will.

We also occasionally scan the offerings of other companies to see what other software may better meet our needs.  In the race against the competition, Sage 50 seems to have got heatstroke and passed out.  Now they've come to and stumbled off in the wrong direction.

I have a major problem with this latest update and no support for crystal report forms. We were not notified, and will now need to order new cheques. As mentioned above in another post, I will be recommending going to another accounting software package. We will also be asking Sage for reimbursement of new cheques, and my time in having to create a manual template in excel in order to print cheques.

    Hi Lornab,

Sorry to hear the inconvenience you have to go through.

Again, the old Crystal Report components that enable the printing and viewing of Crystal Report forms and reports are removed in this latest update.  This is due to the reason that those components are from an obsolete version of Crystal Reports that hasn’t been supported by Sage for more than 10 years and, that Sage can no longer legally provide to customers.

We did our best to provide advanced notice through email, in-product message and knowledge base since March 2014.  For more information, please follow the link below:

KB32644 - Additional information for Customers using Custom Crystal Report Forms in Sage 50 (Canadian edition)

If you need to continue to use your crystal report form template, you will have to buy it from Business Objects.  Then, you can follow option III from the KB article below

KB32636 - What are my options if I need additional form functionality not available in the program?

Again, we apologize for the inconvenience.  Hope the suggestion from our KB articles can assist you with your situation.

"This is due to the reason that those components are from an obsolete version of Crystal Reports that hasn’t been supported by Sage for more than 10 years and, that Sage can no longer legally provide to customers. "

Sage had 10 years to work on a reasonable replacement, and gave their Sage 50 customers 3 months.  Maybe someone should have started working on this instead of reacting to... what, a letter from SAP's legal department?

You could have cut them a cheque, and your customers a break.

I wish you all the best of luck in all your future endeavors, but we're probably going to hitch our wagon to a different star.

Well, gotta go, the QuickBooks webinar is back from break.

there was a finite set of crystal reports,

and there was a long period of time (years) for Sage to enhance the Sage form designer to add the required functionality and migrate the crystal reports

I would like an implementation date from the Sage development team as to if / when this will be done

hmpf - I just found out today that a text box cannot wrap. Very frustrating when trying to design a form for a client and reviewing it for various font size etc. And this is called a 'Designer' form??

  • 0 in reply to Smith and Co

In 1981 I had a Tandy Model 1 that would run 'Scripsit'.  Once you loaded up the tape, you could type words and there was text wrapping.

To be fair, though, Scripsit didn't have a choice of fonts, so we could award Sage half marks for their project.

We are used to print the Invoice terms and the Invoice Due Date on 2 separate lines in the description column, because of the text wrapping issue and the the invoice terms and due date on a single line, we had to make the table smaller to provide an empty long line on the invoice to show this information.

Hello All,  Following all of your comments my company has developed an Invoice Utility feature using the CSV files.  This utility will either print or email a PDF file of the invoice.  The only limitation is that the user has to push the print button in Sage 50 to create the CSV files and then open the Invoice Utility manually.  If your company is interested in this utility I am selling it for $30 CDN, with my standard Invoice Format.  To customize it to your own invoice format there will be an additional charge based on the complexity of the layout.  The charge would range from $50 CDN to a maximum $250 CDN.  Let me know if you are interested in a demo of this utility.  As well this utility can be customized for any other form that was previously generated by Crytsal Reports, for example cheques and purchase orders.

I hope this will help your company.

Q:  What's the difference between Sage and the NSA?

The NSA seems to be listening to everyone, but claims they only listen to a few Americans.
