Phantom user in Sage 50 Premium 2014.2

We have an administrator with four user account. (four computers running Sage)

Regularly, phantom user appears and locks out a user.  It usually happens over night and can not be a power issue as it is never all users.  Only one user at a time.

I, the administrator, kill the mysqld-nt.exe process to get rid of the phantom.  This solution is fine if it is once in a while, but now it is daily.

All users must log off.  Then the administrator gets a fatal exception error which shuts Sage down. Does Sage not have a more permanent fix for this?

The only time I've ever seen a 'phantom user' has been when a workstation is suddenly disconnected while someone is logged in, and the workstation client program doesn't have a chance to shut down.

It's much more like that it is an automatic update, backup, or some other process that breaks the connection sometime during the night.

If you have a point-of-sale, or other third party program it could be doing this.  (XLGL?)

On the File | Properties screen, it should show the time, the username, the exact workstation and the version of software that is attached to the database.

The versions of software you are using might give one of the other Sage 50 users on this forum a hint -  2008?  2014.2?  Premium?   Enterprise?   Server 2003?   2012?   Linux?

We had a customer with 10 users, they've started using a strict procedure of the last person doing a backup, and restarting before they go home.  There's never anyone logged in in the morning.   Before they started doing that, there was never anyone who remembered not logging out the day before.

I hope that helps troubleshoot this.  ( This is a peer forum, I don't work for Sage, I do this for fun.)

Usually the phantom user appears when attempting to log on.  The user logs off at end of day and when user tries to log on at start of new day, there is a phantom user preventing the user from logging on. I checked the log off procedure and all users are going through file/exit procedure. Also note, that since the users are NOT administrators, they log off without choosing the backup procedure.

The software version is stated in the subject title : Sage 50 Premium 2014.2.

I greatly appreciate any assistance anyone can provide.
