Conversion to S50 AE / 2015

Is this the slowest conversion ever?

I just converted a tiny file for a condo corp as a test -- no more than 100 entries per year -- and it took almost 5 minutes to do the full conversion using the Accountant's Edition (which I assume is the same process users will have).

Anyone else seeing the same kinds of long times converting or was this just me?

Thanks - Don

    Hi Don,

For conversion,  it depends on what year your data file is.  If your data file is from Sage 50 2013, then it will not take too long to convert it to Sage 50 2015 format.

If data file is from simply accounting 2006 , then it will take longer to convert to 2015 format because the conversion cannot jump directly from 2006 to 2015.  It needs to go through all the years in-between.

    Hop this helps

I just did a test conversion on a 2014.2 file with 7 years of invoice history, 25,000 journal entries a year and 18,000 inventory & service items, and 1100 projects.

It took 1.5 minutes on a laptop that was also running a full malware scan.

It may depend a lot on the type of data.   On this one it took about as long for the computer to do its thing, as for me to read and respond to the 'Crystal Reports' and other update messages.

    Don,

I haven't done any conversion tests because I have only installed in a virtual machine to test my BizMan Reports program, but I thought the database change was in 2014 so even 2013 files will take longer than 2014 files due to the change in database itself.

Thanks all -- it was a very small 2014 file, which is what surprised me. I'm going to make the assumption that "something else" (read: Microsoft or Adobe hijacking my CPU cycles) that I didn't notice that slowed down the conversion. Will advise if I find out differently in the future!

I'll have quite a few more to do soon.....
