If your IT people are doing all the backups, then make sure they are backing up everything that is part of the Sage 50 files you use. Test the recovery and not just once. Test a few times a year.

And even if IT staff backup servers and take the data offsite, I never stop a client from doing a manual backup. Redundancy is never a bad thing unless you spend more time doing backups than actual data entry.

When you are not in control of your own data files, backups and access to your data are always a concern. When using these types of services, there should be no problem doing a restore but it is a matter of timing. Can it be done within the hour for example.

However, if they allow file transfer between their servers and your computer, you should be able to manage a manual backup and transfer it to your office whenever you want.
