Unless your company sells computers, it is not inventory it is a capital asset. If so, then it would normally be posted to an account in the 1000's for Computer Equipment Assets or some other similarly named account.

Sage 50 does not have a Capital Assets ledger.  It's possible to use the Inventory ledger to keep track of the assets and the buying and selling / disposal of them, but it's not really meant for that, so there's no depreciation functionality.

One reason to not use the inventory ledger, is that you might not want everyone that has access to inventory to be able to see what you paid for each asset.
