If there's no journal entry (press control-J) because no dollar amounts were entered, then it can't be 'Adjusted'.

If that's the case, create a new invoice, if it's important to keep the same number, put a period, an 'a' or some character behind the invoice number.

The invoice date could be outside the allowed period, check the date under setup | settings | company | system.
