I am using Sage pro 2014.3 and have moved to a new computer with windows 10 but I have a error message.  It says "this data has been updated to a new file format and is now incompatible with this version of software"  Can I not use this data on a windows 10?  Please help anyone

Of course you can use it on Windows 10. Open the sample file and confirm the version you have installed. Select Help, About Sage 50 at the bottom of the help menu. It will tell you the version. Under File, Properties it will tell you the file version of the sample data. You may need to upgrade the sample data to open it.

Then open the company file's *.sai file in Notepad and see what version it is. This file is not completely in English but you should still see the version number and name of the program that last opened the file. I would assume they don't match and that is why you are getting the error message. You will have to update the version of Sage 50 to the one you last opened your company file with. If you went back to your original CD, then you have probably installed 2014.0 or 2014.1, not 2014.3 and you will have to download and install the update.

Thank you you are right. The original CD was 2014.0 but I just remembered I had to get the 2014.3 so my accountant could use it. So were do i get the 2014.3 to upgrade it on the new computer? Do they have this available somewhere for download? Thanks for your help!

That doesn't make sense. Most accountants are business partners and therefore have the most up-to-date program and they can always upgrade the .0 version to a later version.

However, have you looked at the download folder to see if it downloaded for you after you opened the sample file? You may need to activate the downloads under Setup, User Preferences, Options.

    C:\Users\Public\Documents\Sage Software\Simply Accounting\Download

If not, and it doesn't start downloading after opening and closing the program and the file a few times I believe there are a couple of threads here that have the link for download and I believe there is a Knowledgebase article that lists the updates.

See this thread, I found it by searching the Sage forums for '2014.3 Update':
