Update from Sage 50 2017 to 2017.1

I received an email with an update from Sage 50 2017 to 2017,1. When I try to install I am prompted to uninstall my existing version before installing the new version (update?). Is this necessary and not included in the instructions?

If you're prompted to uninstall first, you have the full installation rather than an update. It's not a problem, it'll get you to the same place in the end.

In case it doesn't pick out the serial number from the previous version after it's uninstalled, you should probably go to Help | About | Support Info, and print that before uninstallation.

Is there a way to get the upgrade only so I don't have to spend so much time on this?

Open the program, Click Help, Click 'check for updates'.

Depending on the download speed, it might be a bit of a wait.

And sometimes it doesn't work, and you need the full installation.

Just FYI, I don't work for Sage, so I'm not really getting much for the time I just spent explaining that.

I tried that and it seemed to download something, but it was very brief so I doubt it was much of an upgrade. I think I will just skip this update. Thank you for the help

Check the path C:\Users\Public\Documents\Sage Software\Simply Accounting\Download and see if you can find the file SA_20171CPUP1.exe. This is the upgrade and must have the 2017.0 version already installed.

If you are only using SA_20171CP1.exe then it is likely the full install that requires you to uninstall first before it can reinstall.
